Pre-Order Update: March 2025
by My Store AdminThis update, directly from founder, Jean Simonet, has been adapted from the communication shared with our Kickstarter Backers and contains transparent, detailed information about Pixels production. Some details have been adjusted to focus on Pre-order info vs Backer Rewards. These updates are published at the end of each month and will continue to be re-published on the Pixels Blog with information relevant to Pre-order customers.
We’ve officially crossed a major milestone: 50% of all Kickstarter backer and pre-orders have now been delivered.
To date, we’ve sent 15,888 shipments (including partial order, split shipments), with over 11,500 fully completed orders now in hands.
The road hasn’t been short or flat, but this is a big moment. While the remaining orders include a much higher volume of dice—mostly full sets with x7 dice each—we’re heading into the next stretch with solid momentum and steady production.
📦 Shipping Progress
In March, we shipped another 1,250 orders, including Onyx, Hematite, and our first full sets.
That last part is worth repeating: the first full sets have officially left the building!
Another wave of shipments will go out this month (April) as we continue pushing forward.
We’re also working to add an optional colorway-switch for backers that should help us speed things up even more (see next section).
Reaching the halfway point on total orders feels good, but we know that’s not much comfort if you’re still waiting. We’re grateful for your continued patience and fully focused on getting the rest of these orders into your hands.
🔄 Coming Soon: Switch Option to Midnight Galaxy
We’ve officially decided we will offer the option to switch your order to Midnight Galaxy. If you’re waiting on a harder-to-produce colorway or combination (like Onyx or Hematite), switching to all Midnight Galaxy will mean you’ll get your dice much faster.
We need to make changes to our system to allow and track these order updates, but the decision is made—and the work to implement the option starts this month.
🧠 Partnerships & Innovation: Pixels + dddice
We're also excited to share that we’ve begun working with Celeste Bloodreign, the brilliant creator behind dddice. If you haven’t checked out this beautiful digital dice platform yet, I hope you do, it's really great.
Right now, we are starting simple and connecting Pixels to dddice (either directly through the browser, or via the Pixels app) so that you can roll your real dice and your friends, or audience, can see them in real time via dddice.
Proof of concept of dddice integration with physical Pixels dice.
This will be great for Pixels users who play online because dddice already has an extension that works with all the major VTTs, including platforms we don't support yet. One of my personal favorites is how it can also integrate with streaming tools like OBS.
It will work like this (using DnD Beyond as an example):
- Connect Pixels in your dddice account, either directly or via the Pixels app
- Download the dddice Chrome extension for DnD Beyond
- Join your room on DnD Beyond + use the dddice extension to choose your digital dice
Now you're able to roll Pixels on your table, and see dddice's digital dice mirroring your physical dice! And if your friends also join your room then they will also see your rolls!
🔔 The integration isn't quite ready yet, but we'll make it easily available on the website as soon as it is.
🧪 Want to help beta test the dddice integration with your Pixels? Ping Celeste on Discord to get involved, @celestebloodreign.
You can see a full list of dddice supported platforms here.
Celeste and I already have a bunch of ideas for where this could go (like replicating Pixels lighting pattern on screen), but as always, what we build next depends on time, interest, and feedback—so let us know what you’d love to see in the Pixels community Forum!
🛠️ Made by You
We’ve seen some amazing projects created by members of our community using Pixels dice—and we want to start highlighting them.
We’ll be sharing more in future updates (once we've wrangled everything together), but if you’ve built something cool, we’d love to feature it. 📩 Email us at makers@gamewithpixels.com with your project or share it on the Pixels Discord or community Forum.
Jean-Philippe | Smart Tabletop with Live Dice Tracking
Shared with us directly, Jean-Philippe built an amazing smart terrain tabletop where their Pixels dice automatically broadcast roll results via Bluetooth to a tiny Wi-Fi-connected board (an ESP32) which then sends the data to the cloud and updates a digital game tracker in real time.
JP's demo also shows two-way communication between the digital tracker and the dice. When he selects an attack, the tracker lights up the 4 Pixels that he needs to roll. It's a great example of how our open-source design lets makers build futuristic tabletop experiences—right on their own workbenches.
Maisy | Advantage/Disadvantage Rolls
Shared on Discord, Maisy used the web Bluetooth library to create a smart way to show advantage/disadvantage rolls—lighting up the highest die green and the lowest one red. It's a handy visual cue at the table. (Love the lens flare on this video!!! 🙂 Makes it look so epic!)
TJehosphat | 3D-printed Dice Vault
Shared on Discord, TJehosephat designed and shared a custom 3D-printed Pixels Dice Vault that supports charging, sleep mode, and even has room for extra dice. It’s a great solution for anyone looking to keep their Pixels D20s safe, charged, and ready to roll among their new peasant-dice friends 😜. You can download the files here!

CarrickFB | Room Lights React With Pixels Rolls
Shared on Discord, CarrickFB (Darth Mousemat) built a webhook integration that connects Pixels Dice to Philips Hue smart lights—so your room can react to your rolls. Roll a nat 20? Rainbow celebration. Nat 1? Red strobe of shame. It’s a fun little home brew setup using Python, Flask, and the Hue API, and it’s fully open-source for anyone who wants to tinker with their lighting effects. You can check it out here.
🚚 Steady Progress, One Month at a Time
There are no major deep-dives this month because, for once, there aren’t any major developments. We continue to move forward, batch by batch.
I know the wait is long—and the four-week cadence of “good progress, more soon” can start to wear thin. But we are turning the corner. Full sets are shipping. More dice are coming off the line. And with the upcoming switch options, we’ll be able to accelerate delivery for those who are eager to wrap this journey up.
Thank you, as always, for sticking with us.
Warm regards,
Jean Simonet
