Pre-Order Update: October 2025

This update, directly from founder, Jean Simonet, has been adapted from the communication shared with our Kickstarter Backers and contains transparent, detailed information about Pixels production. Some details may have been adjusted to focus on Pre-order info vs Backer Rewards. Hello backers,

As promised, a short update this month as well, as I am literally at the airport on my way back to Shenzhen, China.

For our US backers unfortunately, the situation has not improved, despite the administration’s claims that yesterday’s meeting between Trump and Xi was a “12 out of 10”, the tariffs went up, not down!

As it stands, the new combined rate on Chinese goods is at 47%. This is less than the 55% threatened by Trump in June, but more than the 30% they had been until now. I had hoped the talks would go a different way, especially with the holiday season upon us, but alas, we continue to wait.

As a result, even though the vast majority of our backers are in the U.S., expect future updates to focus more on the rest of the world as we finally send stuff over to local warehouses for fulfillment and start sharing what might come next. Once again, for fear of making promises I cannot keep I will leave it at the all-too-familiar "More Info Soon".

I know I have been holding back on the technical details these last updates, but that is coming to an end as well. Next month’s update should be full of new and exciting pictures and behind the scenes stuff. One of the advantages of spending so many weeks at a time in China is that I get to visit all sorts of factories and have them “try” things 😊. I can’t wait to share more as backer rewards go out and we all look forward to upcoming features and future products together!
