Whether for charging, or storing, always place the die with its highest face up in its case. The wireless charging coil is always on the lowest face and the hall effect sleep sensor is always on the highest face.
The charging/storing case contains a magnet under the lid that turns off the die (Power Off). When you open the lid, the die wakes up and plays it's "Hello World!" LED Pattern.
It is possible your Pixel's battery is too low and needs to be recharged. If that's the case, follow the instructions on the next step.
If you leave your Pixel unattended, it will go into sleep mode to save battery.
- When your Pixel is in sleep mode, the bluetooth is turned off, and you will not be able to connect to it with the Pixels App or your computer.
- To wake up your die, simply shake it. The onboard accelerometer will trigger the die to wake up and re-enable the LEDs and Bluetooth.
When you place your die in its case and close the lid, the magnet located under the lid will trigger the die's hall-effect sensor and put it in Power Off mode - the lowest power state possible.
It's from the manufacturing process โ supports the internals during casting. Transparent on most colorways, opaque on Hematite and Onyx. It's not a defect!

The wireless charging coil is on the lowest face, which is always opposite the highest face.
On the D10 and the Percentile die (referred to as either D00 or D%) the highest faces are the faces showing 0 and 00 respectively. This is an oddity of RPG dice, don't get us started...
Single chargers come with individual dice. Sets come with the Hex Charger.
The wireless charging coil is on the lowest face. Highest number must be on top.
Pixels use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Make sure Bluetooth and location services are on.
Your die can only connect to ONE device. You will need to disconnect from your phone before trying a VTT integration on your computer.
The app works on phones and tablets. Desktop connections (for VTTs like Roll20 or Foundry) use your browser's Bluetooth, which is a separate connection from the app.
Remove your Pixels from their charging case and make sure they light up when you shake them. This will make sure they are on and will be visible to the app.
On first launch, the Pixels app will automatically attempt to discover your dice.
If your dice don't show up in the pairing list, make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on.
The Pixels App will ask you if you would like to update firmware on your dice, we recommend you go ahead. This is important as the factory firmware may have bugs (like ultra-slow charging). Always update before your first real use.
DO NOT attempt to pair your dice via the System's Bluetooth settings (as you would a Bluetooth Speaker).
Pixels use Bluetooth Low Energy which doesn't require system-level pairing, you only need to pair your dice inside the app.
Each profile sets different LED animations for different roll results.
Popular community setup: red tones for 1โ5, yellow for 6โ10, blue for 11โ15, green for 16โ19, rainbow for 20.
Changes sync instantly when connected. If the die is disconnected, the app queues changes for next connection.
Keep animations short enough to reroll quickly during combat. Nobody wants to wait 10 seconds between attacks.
What about my favorite VTT?
The app works on phones and tablets. Desktop connections (for VTTs like Roll20 or Foundry) use your browser's Bluetooth, which is a separate connection from the app and requires a different setup.

Leave on charger 24โ48 hours. Early models had a factory firmware bug. Once the die comes back, update its firmware (Step 4).
Wrong orientation. Rotate 180ยฐ.
Highest number must face up.
The latest Pixels App (V2.5+) can recover dice that encountered errors during firmware update.
Unpair the die and tap the "Add Die" button again.
This was a known bug fixed in an app patch.
The app now resets die settings after firmware updates to fix incorrect roll values on D4 and D6.
